The Lago Maggiore region offers infinite activities and sight-seeing possibilities, making it the perfect holiday destination. The region is known for its beautiful summers and mild winters, making it an attractive destination for people who love the outdoors.

There is something for everyone in the region – from numerous sports to shopping to wellness. Lago Maggiore offers many public bathing areas, even some with wonderful soft sand. The lake is famous for its excellent sailing conditions and boats can be rented in almost every town on the lake. Divers find challenging dive spots in the lake and crystal clear water in the Maggia river. Mountaineers will be amazed at the many hiking, biking, climbing and canyoning trails in the area. The private airport close to Locarno offers all sorts of flying sports for the dare devils amongst us, and let’s not forget the highest bungee jump in the world in the Verzasca Valley, put on the map by James Bond’s opening scene in Goldeneye. There are two world famous golf courses in Ascona and Losone where you can tee up amongst many of the famous members. The shopping is fabulous in the boutiques in Ascona, the department stores in Locarno and of course the famous Foxtown Outlet in Mendrisio.  Wellness facilities and thermal baths are available at many of the luxurious hotels in the region.

A mediterranean world in an Alpine setting, the Lago Maggiore stretches between Piedmont and Lombardy, but the upper lake joins Italian speaking Switzerland, giving life to a paradise, uniting the mild climate and a rich mediterranean vegetation with the magnificient presence of majestic mountains, giving access to mystic valleys still feeling the heartbeat of past centuries.
